About GPSR
In 2024, the European regulation GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation) was introduced. The aim of this legislation is to ensure that all consumer products sold within the EU are safe. Manufacturers must prevent risks to consumer health and safety, provide clear product information, and be able to respond quickly to complaints or product recalls. The regulation places extra emphasis on traceability, digital marketplaces, and sustainable product safety throughout the supply chain.
Key elements of the GPSR legislation include:
- Risk analysis per product (or product group), based on materials and intended use
- Based on this risk analysis, any necessary consumer warnings must be added to the product or published on the manufacturer’s or brand’s website
- It must be easy and clear for consumers to know where to go with questions or complaints
As a GOTS-certified textile company (Global Organic Textile Standard), Bo Weevil ensures that all products meet the ecological and social criteria required by GOTS. One of the core requirements of GOTS certification is that at least 95% of the fibers used are organically grown, and harmful chemicals, heavy metals, or toxic dyes are strictly prohibited. All steps within the certification process must be documented and are subject to annual audits. For GPSR compliance, traceability and product safety are essential components.
GOTS certification also covers environmentally friendly production processes, including controlled wastewater treatment and responsible energy use. On a social level, GOTS requires compliance with ILO labor standards, including safe working conditions, prohibition of child and forced labor, and fair wages.
To comply with GPSR, Bo Weevil has conducted a risk analysis for all product groups. This analysis is reviewed annually.
